Employees based out of the Innovation Center should understand that the office serves as both a work and customer-facing space.

Emergency Procedures

Gerber has designated two employees who serve as Fire Warden and Fire Deputy in the event of an emergency.

In case of emergency, all employees and guests must take one of the three staircases which will be identified by the Fire Warden. Once employees have reached the ground floor, they must walk two blocks south to the designated park. The Fire Warden will then take attendance and report to the security desk to account for all employees and visitors on site. If the Fire Warden will not be on that day, the Fire Deputy must sign in for the Warden.

First Aid / CPR

Select personnel may be trained in First Aid, CPR and Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) and may voluntarily assist with emergencies. Employees should become familiar with the location of AED and First Aid stations within the facility. Employees with previous first aid experience who wish to join the first aid team should contact the Director Environmental Health and Safety.

Tobacco-Free Workplace

Smoking, vaping, and any tobacco products are prohibited inside all Gerber facilities. In the NYIC, tobacco use is permitted only in designated areas. Compliance with this policy is mandatory for all employees and visitors with no exceptions. Employees who violate this policy may be subject to disciplinary action.
